Ι What Are Radially Magnetized Magnets?
Radially magnetized magnets refer to ring magnets where the magnetization direction follows the radial vector. The North (N) pole and South (S) pole are located on the inner diameter (I.D.) and outer diameter (O.D.) surfaces, respectively, or vice versa. Unlike axially or diametrically magnetized magnets, which have poles on flat faces or across the diameter, radially magnetized magnets provide a uniform radial magnetic field.
Isotropic magnets are relatively easy to radially magnetize when produced within suitable dimensions. For anisotropic Neodymium magnets, achieving radial orientation during manufacturing is the key precondition for subsequent radial magnetization.
In this regard, hot pressed magnets provide more consistent and effective radial magnetization compared to sintered radially magnetized magnets produced using rotational orientation technology.
