What Are Permanent Magnets?
Permanent magnets are magnetic materials that retain their magnetism and generate a persistent magnetic field without the need for an external power source or applied magnetic field. They are one of the main categories of magnetic materials used in modern industry.
In basic terms, magnetic materials are often discussed as temporary magnets and permanent magnets. Temporary magnets only exhibit magnetism under the influence of an external magnetic field, while permanent magnets are able to maintain magnetic output on their own over time.
Permanent magnetic materials are intended to maintain stable magnetic output, while soft magnetic materials are intended to magnetize and demagnetize easily in changing magnetic fields. Because of this, permanent magnets are widely used in motors, generators, speakers, sensors, measuring instruments, and magnetic separation equipment.
