Nickel is one of the principal alloying elements in AlNiCo magnets and represents a significant proportion of their material composition. Depending on the grade, the Ni content generally ranges from approximately 13 wt% to 28 wt%, so changes in Nickel prices can have different levels of influence on AlNiCo magnet material costs.
For many cast AlNiCo grades, recycled Ni recovered from production scrap or AlNiCo materials with known compositions is commonly used as a raw material. High-coercivity grades such as AlNiCo 8 and AlNiCo 9 may have more specific requirements for raw material composition and process control.
The price movement of recycled nickel does not necessarily match primary nickel prices directly, but it can still follow the broader Ni market. The nickel price trend can therefore be used as one reference when evaluating changes in AlNiCo magnet costs. However, it cannot be directly converted into AlNiCo magnet prices, as the actual influence also depends on the material grade, composition, production process, material yield, machining requirements, and other manufacturing costs.
