What Are Metallic Soft Magnetic Materials?
Metallic soft magnetic materials are metals and alloys that can be easily magnetized and demagnetized under an external magnetic field. Compared with hard magnetic materials, they are designed to respond quickly to changing magnetic fields and are widely used in magnetic cores, inductive components, electrical machines, and other electromagnetic systems.
This category includes several material groups with different magnetic and manufacturing characteristics, such as pure iron, electrical steel, permalloy, soft magnetic composites (SMCs), and amorphous or nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials.
Depending on the application, these materials may be selected for higher permeability, lower core loss, higher saturation, or better suitability for specific processing routes and component structures.
