What Are Insert Molded Magnets?
Insert molded magnets are plastic integrated magnetic components made by placing one or more pre-formed magnets into a mold before plastic injection. During the molding process, the plastic flows around or against the magnets and forms a combined structure after cooling. The magnets are therefore integrated into the plastic part instead of being glued, pressed, or assembled separately after molding.
This method is suitable for designs where the magnets need to work together with a plastic housing, carrier, rotor, bracket, or positioning structure. The plastic part may provide mechanical support, installation features, surface protection, accurate positioning, or additional mechanical functions required by the final component. At the same time, the magnets provide holding force, sensing function, magnetic positioning, or interaction with another magnetic component.
