How are ferrite magnets made? Manufacture process of ferrite magnet begins with the weighing, mixing, pelletizing, and calcination (pre-sintering) of the raw materials (Strontium or Barium Carbonate and Iron Oxide). The calcinated products are then crushed into fine powder less than 1 microns in particle size by multistage milling. The fine powder is subsequently filled into molds and pressed. It is noteworthy that pressing process of ferrite magnets can be divided into dry process and wet process.
For carrying out the wet process, the milled fine powders are mixed with a solvent to form a slurry which prone to orient to obtain superior magnetic properties. The compacted green body is then sintered at very high temperature. After sintering, the blanks are machined to the specific shape and magnetized.
