Ι What Are Axially Magnetized Magnets?
For cylindrical and ring magnets, axially magnetized magnets are magnetized along their geometric axis (thickness or height). In this configuration, the North (N) and South (S) poles are located on the two flat, circular faces of the magnet, rather than on the rounded sides.
For rectangular magnets (except AlNiCo), the magnetization direction is typically along the smallest dimension, known as the thickness. These magnets are specified by their length, width, and thickness, with the thickness defining the magnetization direction, which is also referred to as axially magnetized.
The magnetization process of axially magnetized magnets is typically achieved using solenoid fixtures. In this process, currents flow through a copper coil in a helical path, similar to a solenoid, generating a magnetic field directed along the coil’s axis. This magnetizes the magnets to magnetic saturation.
