Ι What Are AlNiCo Horseshoe Magnets?
AlNiCo, short for Aluminum-Nickel-Cobalt, is a non-rare earth metallic permanent magnetic material primarily composed of Aluminum (Al), Nickel (Ni), Cobalt (Co), Iron (Fe), and small amounts of other elements such as Titanium (Ti), Niobium (Nb), and Copper (Cu), which help adjust its coercivity. AlNiCo magnets were once the dominant force in the permanent magnet industry until the emergence of rare earth permanent magnets.
AlNiCo horseshoe magnets, also known as C-shaped or U-shaped magnets, are a specific type of AlNiCo magnet. These magnets are recognized as one of the most universal symbols for permanent magnets and magnetism. The manufacturing of AlNiCo magnets involves two primary methods: sintered and cast, with cast AlNiCo magnets being the more common production method, each tailored for specific applications. Nearly all AlNiCo horseshoe magnets are produced via casting.
